SWAG is an acronym…
You know what “swag” is, don’t you? It’s the little trinkets and stuff you pick up at trade shows. Y’know. The goodies….the pens, pencils, post-it notes, golf balls, t-shirts…..all with logos.
I was at a trade event last week and picked up a ton of goodies. The first thing you want to do when you walk a trade floor is pick up a “schwag bag” — a logo’ed bag to haul away all your free stuff.
Anyway: I gotta write this down before I forget (because I forget this on a quarterly basis…).
Swag is an acronym. It’s a line item in every trade show budget I develop, but I frequently forget what it stands for when I point out the budget to the client. Here it is:
SWAG: Sundries, Wearables and Give-aways.
So now you know…..

I’m pretty sure it’s not an acronym, and that the word for ‘loot’ came first, with the acronym made up afterwards
