It sounds passe: but the “Bookmark This Page” button or link on your web pages still work phenomenally well for getting additional visitors to your site.

I was cruising a site with interesting information just yesterday…and before I knew what I was doing, I hit the “Bookmark this Page” button. I couldn’t help myself. I followed their command.

It’s fairly easy to do: you can go to a site like codelifter.com and follow the instructions. I put up a quick bookmark here using codelifter. Works like a dream.

You’ll also note that when you bookmark the site above, you’ll see a little icon in your bookmark list. That’s easy to do, too: an it’s an often overlooked marketing technique. You can stand out from all the other bookmarks when you have your own personalized icon in the bookmark list.

All you have to do is create a favicon.ico graphic file: 16×16 pixels in size. Since it’s so small, you wont’ have too much detail in this teensy little file. Upload your favicon.ico file to your root directory, and you have a little personalized bookmark logo whenever somebody bookmarks your page.

Fabulous!
