Look at your tail…
Describing the benefits of “the long tail” of search or economics or internet marketing can elicit blank stares.
Understanding the long tail is critical for web marketers, though. If you have five minutes, takes a look at this online presentation and get excited about the long tail>>>
I signed up for this free beta program and finally have an easy-to-understand graphic display of why the long tail is important to search engine marketing.
Within two hours, I was able to show how the top ten search words used at a client site yielded 40% of the search traffic…and the remaining 60% of the SE traffic came from over 60 other keyword phrases.
The long tail of search is important. Study it.
Ignore the long tail at your peril.
In my experience — the short tail keywords are the “traffic words”. They attract a high amount of visitors….who are less likely to buy.
The long tail words are buyers.
Look at your tail!
