How to test your landing pages

I just took a time out with a cup of Joe to watch an extremely exciting demo of a new free product from Google called WebOptimizer.

Why is it exciting? Because it lets you test how well your website’s landing pages are performing, so that you can make simple tweaks to your pages that can dramatically improve your sales.

I cannot tell you how many times a client wants to stick with a webpage that is NOT converting well. I understand their thinking: they paid a designer a ton on money to come up with a really neat looking design, and they are afraid to change it and destroy the design that they paid so dearly for.

The problem is — by not testing and tweaking their sales pages — they are throwing even more money away.

The beauty of good design is that it allows you to test and change some of the most critical elements that affect your sales conversion rates — headlines, copy, and graphics.

This is not about re-inventing your entire website. This is about testing and tweaking some of your easiest-to-change page elements to make it more attractive to your customers. This is about increasing your sales.

This is not about pacifying your designer’s ego because he went to art school and he knows what looks good better than your customers do.

Do you want to feed some a designer’s ego…or do you want to feed your family?

Take a cup of coffee, take a time out….and take a look at the Optimizer demo. In less than 10 minutes, I hope you’ll be just as excited as I am (and not just from the caffeine buzz!)
