Top task for December 31, 2006.
That little notice on the bottom of your website’s pages that reads “Copyright 2006″?
Change it to read “Copyright 2007″.
And do it on every page of your website. This is an online marketing must.
Nothing says, “No one home, I’ve abandoned this site” like a copyright notice that still says 2001.
(I saw ”Copyright 2001″ at a site I reviewed earlier this week. And let’s face it: this a simple change: took a few minutes to fix.)
On some of my sites, this is set to happen automatically when the clock strikes midnight.
On a few other sites, I have to make one change in my footer “include file” to change over 260+ pages where we mention the copyright date. I put this “update copyright notice” task on my December 31, 2006 “to do list”.
Mark your calendars! And if you don’t use server side includes or have this task set to automate: why not?
