Why be a tease?

On some blog posts and online articles, you’ll see a technique called “a tease”. What’s a tease, and why would you want to use one?  There are three very compelling reasons to use the “teaser” technique:

1. Got you clickin’! A tease is a brief come-on, a tasty little lure to entice your readers to click through to read the rest of the article. You will see your page view metrics jump like crazy when you use teasers.

2. Get to the point, fast. Teaser writers will quickly become better web writers. A tease forces writers to get to the point, fast….and to use techniques to encourage an audience to read more.

3. Gain a psychological advantage. When web browsers get into the pratice of clicking around your site more, a theory of cognitive dissonance comes into play. “Why am I clicking around so much?” they ask themselves, silently. “Must be I like what this guy has to say/sell.”

It’s nice to tease your audience a little! So start teasing today!

TV news programs use teasers. Before every commercial break, they will tell you what they’re going to show you “when we come back”.
