Post it Notes: Oodles of Doodles

I have not purchased a stack of post-it notes in years.
Generally, they make great trade show swag or giveaways, so I have oodles of post-its with logos on them. I even have a SWAG post-it note holder in handsome cherry wood (more SWAG).
Chiefly, I doodle on my stack of post-its. Many get jammed on my computer, on my calendar, […]

Trophy wife

Just so you know…
I am not now, nor have I ever been a trophy wife.
Nor am I bitter!

Y’all come back now, y’hear?

How many of your web visitors keep coming back every month?
Last year, a guy who runs a small e-commerce site told me, “I really don’t care if my old customers come back.”
He should.
His reasoning is that he sells just one great product. His expectation is that people will buy his product, use it, and love it. Because his product […]

Richer Features: Poorer Presentations?

What if less is more?
Maxwell Cooter suggests that this is so in his article at Techworld, where he proclaims that the MS people seem v. proud of all the richer features in PowerPoint 2007. But Mr. Cooter worries that more whiz-bang PowerPoint features could lead to poorer presentations.

Nobody is looking for a trophy wife.

Almost no one is looking for a trophy wife.
I know this for a fact. But how do I know?
Because today at Google, if you search for ‘trophy wife’, a blog post I wrote slightly over a year ago is coming in at number 11.
I am not particularly proud of this. But I am amused.
And I am tickled […]

Business Blogging is Big

The growth curve of blogs has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Check out the BIG numbers. Technorati has been tracking the blogosphere, the world of weblogs, since November 2002. In July 2006, Technorati tracked its 50 millionth blog.  The blogosphere has been doubling in size about every 6 months. It is now over 100 times bigger […]

Free and Easy Online Presentations

A new online service called Slideshare is positioning itself to become the YouTube of PowerPoint presentations. To test the claim, I uploaded a 10-slide PowerPoint presentation. Seconds later, my presentation was available for online sharing.
Easy.
And free to sign up and store your <20 MB PowerPoint file.
How are services like Slideshare going to change the way […]

Logo Love

Here are two situation where I particularly dislike seeing little corporate logos at the bottom right corner of a screen:

I dislike them when I see a presenter speak, and she is using a front-projection system. As she stood on stage, her corporate logo was unwittingly emblazoned on her chest about 75% of the time.
I dislike them […]
