Bad Tech Days, Astrology, and Mercury Retrograde

There are days when it seems that nothing is going to work out technically.

I call these days, “Bad Tech Days”. I am usually light-hearted about it, and say it in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

I don’t really believe in “Bad Tech Days”. But there are days….

…when just about everything you touch that is connected to a computer simply fails on you. Inexplicably.

I have a whimsical friend who simply says, “Mercury in Retrograde - Nothing You Can Do”. Astrology-types are fond of blaming the planet Mercury for communication and technical failures: after all, Mercury is the Roman God of Communication and EveryDay Routines”. And when the planet Mercury is in retrograde, my friend says that you can expect that normal communication and technology functions will go awry.

And yes, Mercury is in retrograde right now. So I’m reading that excuse more and more this week.

I don’t buy it.

Here’s what makes more sense: if you plan on having a bad day, you will have one. If you expect to have bad tech, you will have it.

That is the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like. You create with your mind.

So if you are having “a bad tech day” — perhaps it is not really a bad tech day after all. Perhaps it is a reminder from the universe to your soul to be thankful for the many days when technology DOES work properly.

And perhaps it is a reminder to focus on what you DO want!

Now, before I get slammed by people who firmly believe in astrology; think about this. Mercury is also the God of Good Fortune. If your God of Good Fortune is giving you a “bad tech day”, maybe he’s trying to tell his believers to look for another opportunity to communicate!

One of my more level-headed friends simply says, “You gotta have days like these, so that you can more fully appreciate the days when everything works.”

That’s so true.

Instead of asking, “Why me?” perhaps you should be asking, “What am I supposed to learn from this?”

In the middle of technology chaos, stay positive. This too shall pass.
