Grow your site with search in mind

If getting quality traffic to your site is important to you, then build your site with search in mind.

And build your site so that it easy easy to grow and change, to evolve and adapt. Search engines change their ranking formulae all the time. You will need to change your site, too. You will want to find out what works, and get rid of what doesn’t. Not just for the search engines — but for your customers.

Therefore:

Do not hire a cub scout who needs a merit badge in web design build your website for you as his first project.
Similarly, do not have an ad agency build it for you. (Usually, they share the same mindset and talent level!)
Do not pay your best buddy (in beer) to build it for you.

And most importantly, do not call me and ask me about search engine marketing if you are not willing to change your site — or measure and test results!
