Why your website needs words!
This month, a caller inquires about what he can do to improve his search position at Google for his keyword phrases.
I look at his website during the call. It has almost no text. No words.
Most of his meager copy is embedded within nifty-looking images. And Flash.
I tell him that among other items, he will need to add a significant amount of copy to his web pages.
Here is his incredible response to my advice. It made my jaw drop!
“You mean words?
I hate words.
Words look tacky on websites.”
Ahh, hind sight! Here is what I should have said to him:
“Ummm…words?
You mean those things people enter into search engines?
Yeah, you should probably have some on your site!
Yep, people enter words into Google and Yahoo. Words are a huge part of internet marketing. They express ideas, information, emotion — words are important. How you use them on your site is important, too.
And if you want to be know for certain words — aka keyword phrases – then you should probably include some of them there words in your website!
