How to die from blogging…

I had to laugh out loud (really, LOL) when I read this post titled “The Greatest Link Attraction Strategy Ever” at Copyblogger. It is a lovely April Fool’s Day marketing technique, but it contains a great element of truth — promoting your own death is far superior to letting your blog die from neglect.

I see quite a few blogs “out there” that have died — i.e., no active posts in over a year. If you have a dead blog on your hands, why not use the “we were dead, but in the spirit of Easter, we are back again!” to bring your blog to life?

Claiming that you were in Witness Protection Program is also a reasonable excuse. And because we are still in April Fool’s territory, I reckon you can put your tongue in your cheek and get away with claiming to have risen from the dead for the rest of the month.

But act fast! The “rising from the dead” theme works quite nicely in April, but the whole resurrection thing is kind of seasonal.

Just don’t be like the dopey ad agency blog that wrote, “We are just so busy, we don’t have time to blog anymore!”

That is a lie no one even wants to believe.

Let’s face it: the busier you are, the more ideas you have. The more you have to blog about.

“Being too busy to blog” is an obvious, embarrassing lie. It says “We have no fresh ideas. We aren’t creating links via synapse and spark, between great ideas and our own business.”

If you are going to lie, at least make it obvious and interesting! And tie it in to a seasonal event!

Hmm…is it really lying if it’s obvious that you are lying? ;)

Happy April!
