Switching Servers: Move on up like George and Weezy….

Must be something in the air — it’s only the first week of June and I’ve flipped the DNS switch for three clients already — and three more are pending a server and DNS change. Are people unhappy with their web hosts??? Sometimes.

But sometimes its just growing pains — moving on up, just like the Jeffersons.

But if you’re moving up like George and Weezy — or moving out like Billy Joel — keep a couple things in mind.

One piece of good advice on switching your server — before you make the switch, make sure you have uploaded all of your files to the new server BEFORE you switch your domain. That’s kind of a big deal!
Another big deal: your server and your DNS are NOT the same thing. Make sure you keep your user names and passwords for each.

And don’t forget what Google has to say about switching servers, either! You don’t want to lose your great positioning in the move!
