Twitter Grammar Guide: KISS it!

TinyUrl or UrlTea at TwitterAs you might guess, Twitter has a style all its own. Short is key.

Think KISS: Keep It Simple, Sweetie!

To make your urls as short as possible, you’ll want to use a free service like SnipURL or TinyURL or urlTea.

Here’s why: yesterday I used Twitter to announce a new blog post at

http://battractive.com/blog/2007/08/01/take-the-twitter-challenge/

But crikey! That’s an awful long URL! Takes up too much TwitterSpace! So I entered my looooooong URL at TinyURL, and I instantly got this:

http://tinyurl.com/yp7qlm

Less than half the length! That’s more like it! It’s Twitterific! (Also handy for long, non-Twitter URLs.) So I use a TinyURL at Twitter, never the long URL. Makes sense…and it’s kinder to Twitterers.
