Google Image Search Trumps Regular Search

It happened yesterday: Google Image Search surpassed Google Search for a design site I help publicize. Here’s a stats screenshot from yesterday:

Google Image Search

Regular readers will recall that I advocated optimizing sites for Image Search a few months ago. It’s not tough, and the payback can be huge.

The downside: The visitors from Google Image Search are not big spenders. They tend to be browsers, not buyers.

Looky-loos, if you will.

But — if your organization sells a product or service that focuses on design, beauty, or fashion — you are more likely to make a stronger brand impression when you optimize your graphics for Image Search. Get your luxurious photos and graphics out of Flash, where no one can find them or use them — and get them optimized for search, pronto.

You’ll thank me later.
