LinkedIn is Pretty Again

We’ve all have bad hair days. It’s no big deal. You get a bad hair cut or color, and it takes a few weeks to grow out.

Crazy FaceThe interim ugliness can be embarassing. You endure the stares of strangers, take some good-natured ribbing from your friends, you wear a hat, and you press forward. You wait for the ugliness to pass with as much grace as you can muster.

When LinkedIn revealed its new look a few weeks ago, I dubbed it “hideous“.

Thankfully, it was just a bad hair week for LI. LinkedIn is pretty again.

LinkedIn grew out of its egregiously bad layout in a matter of days. Gone are the irrelevant news feeds. The crazy, blinking video ads have been replaced by sensible text ads. The network updates are up at the top again — where they belong. And the new layout is definitely more functional than the layout of 2 months ago.

The status update feature is still stand-alone and wonky, but even that’s OK. It’s not a big deal, because LinkedIn isn’t FaceBook. And it looks like LinkedIn realized this, and quit trying to be something it is not.

LinkedIn isn’t just pretty again.

It’s professional again.

Worth a second look… and not in that “bad hair day” kind of way.
