Less than a month ago, I installed Odiogo at this site.

Today, I received my first stats report from Odiogo. Here’s a factoid:

Almost three times as many people downloaded my content than merely pressed the “Listen Now” option.

This indicates to me that people want to LISTEN LATER to written content. They’re ON THE GO.

Why else might you download the content?

Seriously — if you downloaded content from my Odiogo feed this past month, I want to hear from you. How did you use the download? And where? And when?

So…Santa left an iPod under your tree. Now what do you do with it?

If you’re a teenager, you probably want to download songs and have a listen. That’s cool.

But what if you are an adult…a business person, a parent, a teacher, a grandparent?

Yes, you’ll want to listen to music, too!

But that’s just the tip of the iceburg of what you can do with your new iPod, Zune, Zen or other mobile media device.

That’s why I published a free video and audio ebook that walks mobile media newbies through the basics of how to get the best deals on music — as well as how to download free podcatchers.

Parents and teachers take note – there is a ton of multimedia content on the internet. It’s not just Top 40 songs, y’know. Just what are your kids downloading and listening to? Download my ebook, and find out!

Businesspeople take note – In late 2006, one in every 100 people in the world (not just the US) has a mobile media device. The iPod and its ilk represent a major new medium. So — just how are you using this powerful new medium to get your marketing message in front of an audience that is actively seeking new and interesting content?

Wrap your mind around some new ideas — listen to my ebook today!

Which major dictionary decided that the word “podcast” was the “word of the year” in 2005?

And more importantly, was this dictionary correct when it made “podcast” the word of the year?

Is podcasting really that important? And has it become that mainstream?

And are podcasts and podcasting important for your business?

The answers may surprise you…

Listen to my 7 minute podcast, where I answer these important questions about podcasts….and make predictions about who will be most likely to come on strong with podcasting in 2006.

Click here to listen to the 7 minute podcast! (You don’t necessarily need an iPod, just click and listen…you’ll see!)

Hint: sometimes being among the first to experiment with a new and important trend has a strong business and PR value….

It’s not even a month, and I’ve already got a fifty page website with over a dozen short videos, a newsfeed, and three multi-media ebooks at the site.

Thirty days ago, I didn’t have one word of content, a webhost, a logo, or a domain name.

That’ the magic of multimedia, content management, open source, and podcasting. And having a plan.

If someone tells you that you absolutely can’t have a profitable site up and running in under 30 days, I’m here to tell you…it can be done.

As of today, I turned a profit on the site, thanks to ad revenue and an affiliate program.

Find out how by watching some of the nifty free videos!

I found a neat site that has potential (it’s still in beta, but I can see the potential once it gets rocking.)

The site is www.podscope.com, and the fascinating part is that it searches by spoken word instead of written word. That means that when you enter your search term, it pulls up the point in the podcast where the word is spoken. So if you’re interested in a particular topic, but the podcaster doesn’t actually speak the word until — let’s say — minute 17 of a 30 minute podcast, you can go directly to minute 17 and bypass the opening sequence or any other items that you might not want to hear.

I used podscope to find 10 podcasts that cover a particular topic in which I have an acute interest. In almost every podcast, my topic was only touched upon toward the middle or end of the entire presentation! But with podscope I was able to preview each presenter’s style and sample their content before I committed to listening to their entire message.

As a result, I found one very good podcast among the mix.

Try it – searching by spoken word has the potential to change the rules about how people will find your online content.

I was on a first date (quite) a few years ago, and the guy told me he knew that he was going to marry me. He could “just tell”.

I went out of my way to make sure that I never saw him again.

But how many times have you seen the same approach in internet marketing? There’s this alarming and ineffective tendency to ask for a sale. . . before letting prospects get to know more about you, your product,or how you do business. This approach doesn’t work. It scares customers away in droves.

Here are three proven approaches that work VERY well:

Provide well-written, interesting content. Let your visitors get to know your style…as well as your substance.

Document your sales process. I don’t buy from sites that don’t let me know what to expect when I hit the “buy now” button or pick up the phone to place an order. Who would?

Present an offer. Instead of going for the hard sales close immediately, give your audience a chance to get to know you better. Free downloads, demos, and other useful information can help establish an ongoing relationship.

As Jon Lovitz used to say in an old Saturday Night Live skit, “Get to Know Me!”

And let your audience get to know YOU!
